Announcement Envelopes

Announcement envelopes, also known as a-sizes, have the flap on the longest side of the envelope. The most distinguishing characteristic of the announcement envelope is the flap which is large in size and square in shape making it very easy to insert contents. These envelopes are side seam.
Great For: Invitations, donations, greeting cards, and direct mail.
Booklet Envelopes

Booklet envelopes have the flap on the longest side of the envelope. These envelopes come in a large variety of sizes. Most often they seal using moisten-able glue, but they also come in Peel N Seel and Flip N Stick varieties as well.
Great For: brochures, annual reports, sales literature, and direct mail.
Catalog Envelopes

Catalog envelopes have the flap on the shortest side. These envelopes are stronger and larger than most other envelope styles. Catalog envelopes come in a variety of paper weights and they are center seam unless stated otherwise.
Great For: Insurance policies, mortgages, interoffice use, and legal papers.
Clasp Envelopes

Clasp envelopes have the flap on the longest side of the envelope. These envelopes are very tough and generally they are produced with heavier paper. In addition to moisten-able gum these envelopes have a metal clasp that allows them to be re-used. Like catalog envelopes, clasps are center seam unless stated otherwise.
Great For: Interoffice use and report cards.
Coin Envelopes

Coin envelopes have the flap on the shortest side. These envelopes are very similar to catalogs expect they come in much smaller sizes. Unless stated otherwise coin envelopes are center seam and have standard moisten-able glue. Although small in size, coin envelopes are very tough.
Great For: Holding coins, parts, and anything small.
Commercial Envelopes

Commercial Envelopes, also known as business envelopes, have the flap on the longest side of the envelope. These envelopes generally have diagonal seams, but they also come in side seams. Commercial envelopes are the most cost effective which has led to their great popularity.
Great For: Sending invoices, direct mail, donations, and reply mail.
Remittance Envelopes

Remittance Envelopes, also known as kust kuts, remits, or collection envelopes, have side seams and the flap on the longest side of the envelope. Remittance envelopes have a wallet flap which sets them apart from other styles.
Great For: Collection purposes, direct mail, donations, and reply mail.
Square Envelopes
Square envelopes are just like they sound, square! They come in a great variety of colors. Like the announcement envelope, squares have a flap which is large in size and square in shape making it very easy to insert contents. Square style envelopes are side seam unless stated otherwise.
Great For: Invitations and greeting cards.
